Literatura e historia: la historia en la literatura

The present article focuses several considerations about the concept of historical novel, which will allow clarifying the reality of this literary genre. It considers worthy of attention some basic aspects of the development in the 19th and 20th century. The identification of the main characteristics performs by analysing German historical novels with Spanish contents mostly written during the Exile Age of the German literature, as Bruno Frank¿s Cervantes (1934), Lion Feuchtwanger¿s Goya oder der arge Weg der Erkenntnis (1951) and Die Jüdin von Toledo (1955), and Hermann Kesten¿s Ferdinand und Isabella (1936) and König Philipp der Zweite (1938).En esta aportación se realizan una serie de reflexiones sobre el concepto de novela histórica, que ayudan a clarificar la realidad de este género literario. Para ello se consideran algunos aspectos fundamentales del desarrollo en los siglos XIX y XX. La identificación de las peculiaridades del género se realiza mediante la consideración de novelas históricas alemanas de tema español surgidas fundamentalmente en la época del exilio de la literatura alemana como Cervantes (1934) de Bruno Frank, Goya oder der arge Weg der Erkenntnis (1951) y Die Jüdin de Toledo (1955) de Lion Feuchtwanger, Ferdinand und Isabella (1936) y König Philipp der Zweite..
