From central concepts of Social Theory by Antonio Gramsci, such as hegemony, counterhegemony, ideology and historical block, among others, we intend to review several statements and practice of Popular Education, wondering if it can become actually a necessary and useful tool for the construction of counterhegemonic processes. To that purpose, the development of Popular Education in different contexts and times, and in our own experiences is analyzed. Also, from Gramsci¿s categories, such as organic intellectuals, we analyze those people who take part in the groups of Popular Education, and whether their job, which in the Popular Education theoretical fundamentals appears as a facilitator, sometimes ends up as an obstacle for the developmen...
