This study deals with the teachers initial training programmes at Teachers University Colleges. Students' opinions are assessed by means of an open-ended questionnaire about the initial training programme and their training needs for further practical stages. Results show a positive consideration for the practical stages because of their enabling students to get in contact with the actual school reality and pupils. Lack of orientation and difficulties to face specific problems (discipline, motivation, attention to diversity, innovation...) As well as organization mismatches at the initial training program, were mentioned as some of the problems.
