This paper analyzes the evolution of competition in Spanish retail banking from 1986 to 1994 using a spatial competition model. The model considers that financial margin and number of branches are simultaneously determined using exogenous variables (demand per unit of surface and competitive conditions in the market). The reason is that accesibility depends on geographical density of branches, and density is affected by decisions on opening new branches which, in turn, depends on the pressure that the branch network exerts on margins (firms decide to open new branches taking into account the market share they can capture and the effect of the number of branches on interest rates)Este trabajo analiza la evolución de la competencia en la banc...
