Elastomer behaviour is characterised by many phenomena : large deformations, relaxation, hysteresis and stress softening under cycling loading. The present work focuses on the last point known as the Mullins effect.The different characteristics of elastomers are underlined thanks to experimental investigations. The Mullins effect is defines as the stiffness loss between the first and the second loading. A bibliographic study is realised on the phenomenon.
