This diploma thesis consists of a short survey paper and some empirical research. The aim of the short survey paper is to give a profound insight on the state of the art in the literature on organizational ambidexterity and management control systems by reviewing the most relevant papers on the topic. Furthermore, the short survey paper proposes further research avenues on organizational ambidexterity and management control systems for the future. The aim of the empirical study is then to show how management control systems are used in practice to achieve and manage organizational ambidexterity. Qualitative semistructured interviews shall give an insight on the current situation and relevance of organizational ambidexterity in organizations and shall reflect the opinion of controllers on the achievement of organizational ambidexterity.
