Study of Impedance Matching in Antenna Arrays Due to Total Radiation

International audienceThe phenomenon of impedance mismatching inantenna arrays is a potential source of performancedegradation, particularly when huge number of antennaelements are placed side by side. Therefore, from its noticeableimpact on the performance of communication components andsystems, arose the necessity of studying the phenomenon ofmismatching so as to minimize its effect. However, in an arrayof antennas, each antenna appears to be matched whenmeasured individually. Nevertheless, the problem ofmismatching reveals itself strongly when the whole array is setto radiate. The value of the input impedance of individualantenna elements changes versus antenna number andposition. In this research, the impact of total radiation from anarray on input impedance of individual antenna elements isanalyzed through theory.
