Microsystems utilizing microfluidic techniques offer the possibility to perform point-of-need biological analysis. An objective of these systems is to increase the efficiency, speed and accessibility of these analyses. In order to effectively develop this kind of device, a set of criteria must be established and adhered to. This set should address cost limitations, portability, user-friendliness, and accuracy of the results. Another objective is to propose a new portable system that has the capability to address as many applications as possible.
