Purpose of the study: Identify and analyze the different perspectives which fuel the controversy regarding home birth in France.Materials and method: This study was conducted according to the methodology of controversial analysis. Forty-three articles from seventy different authors were analyzed, using a reading grid for data analysis, then classified into two tables, and regrouped into positive or negative arguments concerning the practice of home birth. These selected documents date between December 1998 and September 2017.Results: The arguments for home birth relies essentially on a naturalistic vison of the birth, which is centered on the fundamental capacity of the woman to deliver.
