When one speaks of adornment, three domains are affected: the technique, the aesthetics and the sense of being adorned in a given society. To treat artifacts of the "ornamental" (Mauss 1967) therefore requires a decomposition of these socially entangled areas. These can be associated with the different scales of analysis necessarily addressed in this systemic study: the threading thread, the adornment, the body.
