Today, the presence of Holocaust museums in two South African cities, the only such museumson the African continent, attest to the central place of the Second World War and the Holocaustin contemporary South African culture. As suggested by Tali Nates and others writing onHolocaust education in South Africa, thinking about the Holocaust can be an importantframework for those trying to understand their own experiences with genocide and racializedviolence.
