Includes bibliographical references. This study is concerned with the prediction of the maximum probable response of structures in the along-wind direction. An outline of the theoretical basis of the approach is given and the effect of varying wind and structural parameters for a range of different structures is examined. To put the study in context, a brief look is taken at the problems of formulating a more consistent approach to the overall problem of wind loading
