Cryptococcal meningitis (CM) remains a serious cause of mortality and morbidity in individuals infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The optimal treatment of CM is unknown. Six studies met the inclusion criteria; none was found that compared amphotericin B with fluconazole. From the available evidence, it is not possible to determine which treatment is superior for CM
