M. J. Warren and S. Leitch's chapter, The use of social media and new knowledge to researchers in the new age, explores the ways that new knowledge is created and disseminated via social media. It assesses the quality and value of this new knowledge and the real time dissemination of knowledge. With special significance to researchers the chapter highlights the difference between information and knowledge and discusses the pitfalls of social media and new knowledge. Warren and Leitch put forward a framework that could be used to assess the quality and usefulness of such technologies and systems
