Differences in measurements and proportions are sufficient to distinguish the species that are most alike, Oryzomys delticola from O. flavescens, Akodon azarae from A. kempi, Holochilus brasiliensis from H. magnus, and Scapteromys from H. brasiliensis. Proportional differences reveal possible functional adaptations.
