The purpose of this project was to develop a theoretical model for how college-aged, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division (D) II football players make food choices. The existing literature in sports nutrition is well researched in the area of nutrient intake and timing of ingestion. Theoretical models of how athletes make food choices do not exist in the literature. There is only one study that shows a theoretical model for men\u27s ice hockey players. Ice hockey players are typically of similar body size with similar skill sets.
