In order to understand relationships between executive and structural deficits in the frontal cortex of patients within normal aging or Alzheimer's disease, we studied frontal pathological changes in young and old controls compared to cases with sporadic (AD) or familial Alzheimer's disease (FAD). We performed a semi-automatic computer assisted analysis of the distribution of beta-amyloid (Abeta) deposits revealed by Abeta immunostaining as well as of neurofibrillary tangles (NFT) revealed by Gallyas silver staining in Brodman areas 10 (frontal polar), 12 (ventro-infero-median) and 24 (anterior cingular), using tissue samples from 5 FAD, 6 sporadic AD and 10 control brains. We also performed densitometric measurements of glial fibrillary ac...
We examined patterns of cortical thickness loss and cognitive decline over time in 19 patients with ...
Several neuropathologic analyses postulate that Alzheimer disease (AD) in the oldest-old is associat...
The numbers and distribution of the neurofibrillary tangles and neuritic plaques have been determine...
In order to understand relationships between executive and structural deficits in the frontal cortex...
As executive and attention deficits may be linked to damage of the frontal cortex in the evolution o...
ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical and pathological features of a subgroup of patients with Alzheimer...
To establish correlations among cognitive states and neuropathology, we have examined 22 subjects (6...
Neuropathological hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease (AD) include tangles (NFT) and beta amyloid (Aβ) ...
Subtle changes in the human brain constitute a third element in addition to plaques and tangles as m...
The progressive development of Alzheimer's disease (AD)-related lesions such as neurofibrillary tang...
In Alzheimer disease (AD) the involvement of entorhinal cortex, hippocampus, and associative cortica...
To explore the characteristics of brain aging in very old individuals, we performed a quantitative a...
