Graduation date: 1984A three dimensional finite element analysis is developed which\ud is capable of simulating the coupled static and dynamic behavior of\ud compliant ocean structures. Nonlinearities which result from large-deflection,\ud reduced or zero stiffness in compression, and the nonconservative\ud fluid loading are considered. The spatial variation of\ud fluid loading is also addressed.\ud The structures are assumed to be in the Morison flow regime.\ud Linear wave theory is used and multidirectional seas may be simulated.\ud A current profile which varies in magnitude and direction with depth\ud may be specified.
