Best scan available.This study was designed to compare two types\ud process overview displays for a distributed process\ud control system. The two types of formats included in\ud the study were an alphanumeric type (letter) and an\ud analog type (bar). The study required the subjects to\ud perform check reading and search tasks.\ud Thirty-six subjects were tested on both types of\ud display. The results indicated that the analog display\ud was superior to the alphanumeric display. The results\ud reported are based on speed (response time) and\ud accuracy (percent correct)
