Para valorar la comprensión de la fracción en Perú desde una perspectiva curricular, realizamos un análisis de 20 libros de texto peruanos de matemáticas (1963-2005). El análisis se fundamenta en la dimensión fenómeno-epistemológica de un modelo operativo para la interpretación de la comprensión en matemáticas. Se pone la atención sobre los significados, las representaciones e ilustraciones, la fenomenología y la orientación metodológica. Atendiendo a estos elementos, identificamos 3 periodos con carencias en la comprensión pero con una cierta evolución positiva en el tratamiento didáctico de la fracción.
