Technological innovations have developed a wide range of commercial, industrial and personal applications. Technological growth has also facilitated developments in the delivery of innovative approaches in distance learning. This paper examines the use of SMS technology for the development of an active approach to learning on the part of students, by complementing and enhancing their learning experience.
