Ni based composite coatings containing SiC, Al2O3, YSZ, ZrO2, CeO2 particles have been developed through electrodeposition method. A comparison has been made among these coatings by obtaining them by adopting mechanical and magnetic agitation as the mode of keeping the particles in suspension during electrodeposition. It was observed from the microhardness studies that the coatings obtained with the aid of mechanical agitation displayed higher microhardness compared to the coatings obtained using magnetic stirring. The X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the crystal structure of all the coatings was fcc in nature.
