We propose four areas that merit sustained investigation in order to advance knowledge that can inform practice in community college mathematics education. These are instruction, students, curriculum, and technology, specifically online distance education. We explain why we see community colleges as important—yet distinct—settings to conduct investigations in these areas and make a case for specific research questions that can shape research in this area. This work is the result of a collaborative effort between community college practitioners and researchers, responding to the needs of their work in mathematics education.National Science Foundationhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/94208/1/MesaSitomerStromYannota_2012.pd
