An augmented model to greedy multi-rate power control schemes is proposed that integrates mobility information to increase the optimization margins of power efficient packet transmission. The proposed model can be considered as a hierarchical multi-rate power control scheme where current rate allocation decisions are influenced by a larger time horizon that contains information about directionality and velocity of vehicular mobile users. The acquired spatiotemporal information is integrated with a greedy channel rate allocation scheme in the form of a weighting coefficient that provides an incentive to initially increase (degrease) the allocated rate for users that move away from (approach) the base station.
