Weishampel Jr. published the popular tourist guides titled "The Stranger in Baltimore". His 1872 map of Baltimore City is one of the first to identify the proposed expansion of the city boundaries. Annexations attempts over the last few decades had failed. Key Baltimore annexations occurred in 1816, 1888 and 1918. The boundaries depicted on this map were not changed until 1888.
