"The present study analyzes the effect of the methodology of solving mathematical problems,on the development of critical thinking skills, this research is quantitative, with a quasiexperimental approach. The methodology was applied to 25 students of last year of secondary education of the IED Silvia Cotes de Biswell of the municipality of El Banco in the department of Magdalena and was evaluated by applying a pre-test and a post-test, which consisted of the analysis to a newspaper article, through the guide of the eight questions of Richard Pauld and Linda Elder.
