TI_TO_DAY. AREA TITO'S BARRACK RECONDITIONING

The reconditioning of the Tito’s Barrack in Sarajevo in the University Campus is an opportunity to reflect not only on a complex and contradictory city, expression of a multicultural and religious tolerance, which is (and was) the identity of the city, which reveals a history of signs, symbols and stories that have been stratified and are trying hardly to live together, but also the opportunity to rethink a design method, both linked to the theme of the Campus as a driving force of development of the city, and connected to an approach intervening in an area with a story so "participating "and with an ongoing sociality. The suggested method, both on the urban and architectural scale, is not only an opportunity to regenerate a former abandoned barracks functionalizing it to another uses but aims to start a mutation for the contamination of spaces and people, that goes beyond the temporality of execution planning, building and refurbishing spaces. We intend to outline a procedural system of the architectural project for the University Campus of Sarajevo, able to reconcile the long construction times of the structure itself and the growing and changing instances of social development of a City projected towards rebirth and the future. A system of design approach that ensures, in a continuous loop, a cellular proliferation of spaces and uses, that the ars vivendi of the place, the values attributed by the community that uses them, draw as their own and identify. The Campus project in this vision, therefore, overcomes the logic of the abstract model, functionally replicable in every place, to arrive at a process of strategic and circular reconditioning, which links the outcome of the design to the conditions and resources of the cities where they set and flow of the identity needs of the social community
