The paper will features the development and application of CAD/CAM technology in materials forming processes. A research programme focusing on materials behaviour during the design, tooling and production phases will be examined. Discussion of the generic concept for establishing a fully integrated system will show how technology crosslinking can be achieved. The benefits of a combined analytical-experimental research are emphasized. Typical applications to injection moulding, die casting and other forming processes will be presented.Peer reviewed: YesNRC publication: Ye
