Dolgozatomban a cukorcirok alapú bioetanol-előállítás egyes nyílt kérdéseinek megválaszolását tűztem ki célul, a biológiai alapokon nyugvó faj- és fajtaszintű (hibridszintű) tulajdonságok értékelésére. A kísérletekben hat silócirok hibrid összehasonlító vizsgálatát végeztem el, amelynek során a vizsgálatok tárgyát a cirok hibridekre jellemző cukorfelhalmozódási viszonyok és az ebből adódó potenciálisan előállítható bioetanol mennyiségek értékelése jelentette. Vizsgáltam a cirokfélék, valamint a bioetanol során keletkező bagasz biomassza-tüzelési célú hasznosításának lehetőségeit, amelynek során értékeltem az egyes anyagcsoportok kalorimetrikus égéshőit.
