The object of this study is to examine the advantages and the disadvantages of using cultural recreation as a means of promoting the maximum use of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. The dissertation will examine the implications and considerations that are necessary before any expansion of the recreational potential of the Gardens is undertaken. This examination will look closely at the modification, or adjustments that may be needed, or are desirable in certain key areas of the Gardens operations; especially in regard to management, maintenance, circulation routes and information services. If adjustments are required to these key operations, then the implimentation of these adjustments will be spelled out so that conflicts with the hort...
