Problem nalaženja oblika prednapetih konstrukcija od užadi formuliran je kao varijacijski problem čija su rješenja minimalne i poopćene minimalne mreže. Uvedena su kinematička ograničenja koja omogućuju zadavanje duljina odabranih štapova.
