Archino tra oratoria e politica: l'epitafio

Archinos takes a political role of first level in the events of the democratic restoration of the fifth century B.C. His name curiously appears in the late tradition beside the name of renowned rethors of the past, like lysias and Demosthenes: I assume that, given his political fame, he might have earned the task of pronouncing the funeral oration for the fallen of Phyle, people that he shared with values and democratic ideals. The possibility that this epitaph could have been the source for the Diodorean narration of the Oinophyta event, although very suggestive, is based on a series of hypotheses, that confirm once again the difficulty in the interpretation of the historic figure of Archinos, but at the same time do not overshadow his relevancy on the political scene however enriched by his oratory activity
