The book considers two concepts – education and development – from an historical point of view. It sheds light on the “double overturn” of perspective that has taken place among these two concepts during the last fifty years. The result is the centrality given today both at a national and international level to education (and continuous training) as a crucial resource for economic, productive, occupational, and social development.
