The Gothic genre is currently at the height of its popularity, especially with adolescents. Therefore, it makes sense that Gothic literature should be incorporated into the English classroom. However, it has been largely ignored. I have created three unit plans centering on the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley each focusing on a different aspect of the Gothic genre: "monster," "transgression," and "sublime."
