This paper presented an overview of privatization efforts in Indiana. This was compared to existing literature on the topic of privatization. These were compared with one another to see how Indiana’s privatization efforts have followed the literature and how it has differed. The purpose of this paper is to examine why one of Indiana’s privatization efforts was successful and why the other major privatization effort was not successful. Privatization is an important topic in public administration because of the opportunity to find alternative ways to pay for traditionally taxpayer-funded services and increasing the efficiency of those services.
