Attempts were made with hexaazatrinaphthylene- and dibenzotetrathiafulvalene-based precursors with boronic acids to prepare covalent-organic frameworks (COFs) possessing boroxole linkages. After preparing the precursors, several different reaction conditions were attempted, but the desired COFs proved elusive.
