Changes in the classification of so-called “mental” illnesses have had a considerable impact. The broadening of diagnostic criteria has shifted boundaries between the normal and the pathological in children and adolescents. Autism and early-onset bipolar disorders are used here as examples to analyse the consequences of changing clinical contours and the adoption of an adultomorphic perspective, but also to illustrate an increase in conflicts of interest in this field.Les transformations des classifications des maladies dites « mentales » ont eu un impact majeur.
