EPIDEMIOLOGI VIRUS PERNAFASAN PADA PASIEN DI RSUD DR. MOEWARDI SURAKARTA BERBASIS MULTIPLEX NESTED PCRMEI 2010 - JUNI 2010

Objective: The aim of this study was to obtain the preliminary data of respiratory viruses epidemiology in May 2010 – June 2010, in Dr. Moewardi general hospital Surakarta. Methods:Respiratory specimens (nasal and throat swab) were collected on May – June 2010, from 32 patients with acute respiratory infection visited the Division of Pulmology, Dr. Moewardi general hospital Surakarta. Molecular detection from 32 respiratory specimens were carried out by multiplex nested PCR, addressing for Influenza A virus, Influenza H1 virus, Influenza H3 virus, Influenza H5 virus, Influenza B virus, Human ParaInfluenza Virus (HPIV) 1, HPIV 2, HPIV 3, HPIV 4, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) A, RSV B, Human Rhinovirus, Enterovirus, Human Coronavirus (HCoV)-OC43, HCoV-SARS, HCoV-229E, Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), Human Bocavirus and Adenovirus. Results:Influenza H3 Virus and Human Metapneumo Virus (HMPV) were detected in 9,37 % (3/32) and 6,25 % (2/32) patients, respectively. Clinical diagnosis from 32 patients, consisted of pneumonia 59.4 % (19/32), ILI (influenza like illness) 18.8 % (6/32), asthma exacerbation 9.4 % (3/32), ARI (acute respiratory infection) 6.4 % (2/32), bronchiektasis 3 % (1/32) and bronchopneumonia 3 % (1/32). No virus co-infection was found from all samples. Conclusion:Influenza H3 Virus and HMPV were detected in patients with acute respiratory infection in Dr. Moewardi general hospital Surakarta, in May – June 2010
