Channel wide fish passage structures have been installed throughout the Pacific Coast to allow movement of aquatic organisms, facilitate sediment transport, and provide debris conveyance. These structures are often designed using stream simulation or hydraulic design techniques. Very few of these projects are monitored to assess the post construction hydraulic characteristics and evaluate their performance relative to adjacent stream conditions or hydraulic design criteria. Monitoring is often difficult due to short flow durations and logistical constraints associated with personnel and equipment access.
