The title of this work ‘Microfinancing 2.0: Managerial Requirements for Scalability, Replicability, and Self-Reliance’ reflects the need for microfinance institutions (MFIs) to evolve in order to compete and collaborate with financial services and governments. Defined as the practice of providing financial services (loans, savings and insurance) to the poor microfinance is one important impetus in the eradication of global poverty. From an economic perspective, microfinance is a low-cost way to reduce global poverty. From a societal perspective, the entrance of previously neglected individuals into the international financial system represents a vital function for international development and societal rebalancing
