Library mission – challenges – goals – tasks. An attempt at formulating the mission statement for Poznań University Library.

The article attempts at formulating a draft document – a rationale and a mission statement for Poznań University Library. As in its essence such a document should take into consideration many factors, the author briefly describes the history of the Library, its collections, space conditions and perspectives for development in the near future. Having all those factors considered, the author tries to formulate a draft mission statement for the Library which, in author’s intention, should be a material for open discussion preceding its final formulation
