There have been few management concepts to have generated such enormous interest so quickly as the concept of business process reengineering (BPR). Case studies in the UK have revealed that in practice there a number of key issues that needs to be in place for a BPR project to succeed. A recent study of five leading mercantile and state owned organisations in Sri Lanka identified, environmental, cultural, business and IS/IT factors relevant when considering Business Process and Information Systems Reengineering (BP&ISR) initiatives.
