University of Bolton Business Intelligence Project Plan

As the sector braces itself for the impending changes to funding and student fees, robust data collection, linking and the ability to interrogate across data sources to determine accurate and appropriate costing and price strategies will be crucial. The University of Bolton believes that the ability to achieve sound costing and pricing principals of often very complex provision is essential to deliver its mission in a, potentially, very price sensitive part of the sector. The Bolt-CAP project will consider the means by which the data which is captured, at great effort, for the HEFCE TRAC and EMS requirements can be increased in accuracy and used to provide a sound basis for costing and pricing decisions. Having achieved a clear understanding of the data, the project will enable a workload analysis tool to be developed as part of the data capture and warehousing phase of the project which will be followed by the development of a reporting tool that is flexible enough to allow expansion as part of the sustained and continued project beyond JISC funding
