Equine navicular syndrome (ENS) is a common ailment responsible for up to one-third of all chronic forelimb lameness. The current presentation, based on literature reviews and veterinary and radiology opinions, offers a brief overview of the current status of imaging the equine navicular syndrome. Conventional radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography, scintigraphy and magnetic resonance imaging are considered since all appear to have some purpose in the diagnosis and staging, relating to the complexity of the syndrome.
