MAKNA PESAN KOMUNIKASI NON VERBAL DALAM RITUAL SALAI JIN (Studi Etnografi Komunikasi Pada Masyarakat Kelurahan Tomalou Kota Tidore Kepulauan)

The research entitled "The Meaning of the Message of Nonverbal Communication in the Salai Ritual of Tidore Islands" was motivated by the viewpoint of researchers that in a ritual there were meanings that were unknown to many people even including the Tidore people. This research is a qualitative research that uses the theory of nonverbal communication approach and ethnographic communication research type. The informants in this study were four actors in the ritual salin jin. Data obtained by observation, interviews and documentation. Then using data analysis techniques for ethnographic communication research. Researchers focus research based on the concept of classifying nonverbal messages and ethnographic communication, with the object being studied, namely the Salai Jin Ritual. So the results of this study are the meaning of nonverbal message classification and the ethnographic perspective of communication contained therein. The situation of the ritual communication of the salai jin is one of the traditions that is still carried out by the Tidore community. With communicative activities consisting of functions and purposes rather than the rituals of the Jin, this is to heal the sick and also to gather relatives of the genie descendants. Participants of this ritual are sowohi, dancers, sowohi spokespersons and the surrounding community. By setting the time in the morning until late at night and at Sowohi's house and also on Tomalou hill. The type of message is verbal and nonverbal messages, where nonverbal messages can be interpreted through categories of movements, facial expressions, clothing, rooms, and smells. The verbal message is in the form of a spell that is pronounced sowohi when performing transsendental communication. Communicative action in this ritual is in the form of requests, orders and statements that are verbal and nonverbal, as well as the type of message in the ritual of Salai jin
