Persepsi Orangtua Tentang Caring Perawat di Bangsal Anak

Caring behavior is a core part of nursing. Caring can be demonstrated through the relationship between clients or patients and nurses by respecting and empathizing someone’s feelings. Caring is performed by nurses with the aim of helping patients and meeting the physical, psychological, spiritual and social needs of patients. The relationship between patients and nurses can enable the patients to give an assessment to the nurses. Therefore, the researchers think that it is necessary to find out how parents perceive caring behaviors of the nurses in pediatric ward. The purpose of this study was to know the parents’ perceptions of nurses’ caring in a pediatric ward in a hospital in Semarang. This study employed a descriptive research design with a total sample of 106 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The instrument used in this study was the caring behavior assessment (CBA) which consisted of 7 subscales adopted from the 10 Watson’s carative factors. The results of this study were viewed from the mean and standard deviation of subscale ranking and 10 ranking of the highest and lowest items. The results showed the highest value in the subscale of “receiving positive and negative feelings” and the highest value in the statement item of “Asking what I want to know”. This study concluded that respondents considered nurses’ support to be very important for pediatric patients. This research is expected to be a valuable input for nurses, hospital management, or educational institutions. Future studies can examine caring for patients and families
