This design research portfolio examines how interior architectural strategies might increase residential density through the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. The research aim is consistent with the Wellington City Council (WWC) urban development guide; with a projected Wellington population increase of around 45,000 by 2043. Such an increase justifies the research of strategies for increasing the density of residential areas. The urban development guide also outlines the projected population growth in specific areas of priority in Wellington (see numbers below).
