Highlights: • We used indoor mesocosms to test the impact of warming on plankton communities. • Different stages of phytoplankton bloom were analysed. • Increased temperature and zooplankton grazing had similar effects on phytoplankton. • Warming and increased zooplankton density decreased phytoplankton richness. • Warming and increased zooplankton density increased phytoplankton evenness.
