THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING READING ALOUD TO INCREASE STUDENTS’ PRONUNCIATION FOCUS ON PRODUCING /θ/ AND /ð/ SOUNDS AT SMP NEGERI 2 CANDI

The purpose of this research is determining the effectiveness of Reading Aloud to increase pronunciation focus on producing /θ/ and /ð/ sounds at SMP Negeri 2 Candi. This research uses one group pretest posttest design in conducting the research. The participant of this research is 8H students of SMP Negeri 2 Candi. The researcher calculates mean students’ score in order to know the achievement of students’ pronunciation in producing /θ/ and /ð/ sounds by using Reading Aloud. Then the researcher uses N-Gain formula to know how effective Reading Aloud to teach pronunciation focus on producing /θ/ and /ð/ sounds is. The result of the students’ mean score of pretest is 39.13 and posttest is 68.70. It shows that there was increase in students score before and after the treatment is done. It means that using Reading Aloud can improve students’ pronunciation in producing /θ/ and /δ/ sounds. The N-Gain score is 0.502, it shows the criteria level of the effectiveness of Reading Aloud is Average
