The Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) converts a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide (syngas) selectively into hydrocarbons with a large chain length distribution. Syngas can be produce from different resources such as natural gas, coal and biomass. In the light of energy resource diversification, FTS can make a contribution to the production of liquid fuels. However, methane formation as byproduct has a large impact on the process economic feasibility.
